National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century

Mississippi State Society

Organization of the State Society

The Mississippi State Society was founded in February of 1965.   The State Society current has thirteen chapters, and a total membership of approximately 450.   Most chapters meet on a quarterly basis.

Dear Dames,

I am so very honored to have been elected your State President for the 2019-2021 term and I will do my very best to represent the Mississippi Colonial Dames XVII Century with grace and dignity.
The National Convention was held in Washington, DC April 17-20, 2019 at the beautiful Willard Hotel. Members of the Mississippi Society served as hostesses at the Thursday afternoon tea, which was held at the NSCDXVIIC Headquarters. You can be proud of your headquarters building and especially the Mississippi Room with her new facelift. The room is so bright and airy with a new paint job and with the removal of the drapes. All museum items were removed, cleaned, and re-organized. Please go by for a visit if you are in the Washington area.
New officers were elected and the new President General is Nancy “Nan” Louise Smith Ackerman from Virginia.
The summer workshop will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Country Club of Jackson and our guest speaker will be Mr. Mark Henry. Mark will be presenting a program entitled “The Shipwreck That Saved Jamestown”.
My challenge to you is for us to have a record crowd at the summer meeting. We need not only officers and committee members there but we need to encourage our chapter members to attend and to gain new enthusiasm towards our society. Enthusiasm encourages growth, which is not only the President General’s motto for the next two years but should also be ours. We need fresh new faces and fresh new ideas, so come prepared to bombard us with ideas for the future.
Chapter Presidents, please be sure to send me your correct email addresses. My plan is to visit all of your chapters in the next two years.

                                                                      In Colonial Dames service,
                                                                        Debbie Cannon
